Sahwira sponsors Maulana School with expanded teacher salaries & food relief.

Sahwira increases teacher salary program to give a modest living allowance to the growing group of volunteer teachers and caretakers while also providing a food allowance for “mealie meal” to help feed the children.

Ohio Schools Host Silent Auction to Raise Funds to Ship Books to Zimbabwe.

Indianola Elementary students and teachers, Columbus, Ohio work in connection with The Ohio State University and The Columbus Museum of Art in organizing a silent auction of children’s art in combination with local artist works.  All proceeds will be used to ship a collection of children’s books to Zimbabwe, along with clothing & school supplies.

Sculptor Agnes Nyanhongo raised money for the Maulana School by donating a sculpture during an exhibition in Carmel, CA.

Ohio State University Donates Children’s Books & Supplies to Sahwira Fund.

Ohio State University College of Education, Columbus, Ohio donates a collection of 45,000 children’s books from the Edgar Dale Media Center, to open a children’s library in Zimbabwe.  The College of Education at Ohio State also donated math, science and literacy supplies (counting cubes, tan grams, fraction blocks, balances and scales etc.)

Naomi Fuller (Poudre High School student) raised money through the production of a school play and the sale of her custom made bracelets.

Kuaba Children's fund Donates Well & Supplies Maulana School.

Members of the Kuaba Children's Fund, introduced to the Maulana School for Orphans by Sahwira Fund member Agnes Nyanhongo, visit the Maulana school with a group from Indiana.  The group organized the drilling of a well and the purchase of a pump, donated clothing and school supplies.

Artists and Sahwira Fund members Lori Acott Fowler and Collen Nyanhongo raised money for the Maulana School by donating works of art for auction at their “Unexpected Agreements” exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Fort Collins, CO.
